we love the dead ringers.

Dead Ringers is a tribute piece by Dmitri Cherniak, made in homage to his father, released in January 2022. They are not only visually arresting generative works. Each one is also a small monument to unownability.

“Every day in January 2022 I will generate a new output from an algorithm, pick a random wallet address, mint the work, and send it to that address. It’s almost guaranteed none of the wallets will ever be active or accessible. Consider it a celebration of birth, life, and death. I will however provide the generated SVG file directly so you may print or plot this work at whatever dimensions you please. No one may ever “own” a Dead Ringer, but this is the first time I have ever provided the SVG files to my works so you may print, plot, scale them up or down or integrate into your own work. Arguably these belong more to you than any of my works before.”
